I had a great class tonight! The heat was finally just right. When you first walk in the room, it feels terribly hot, but I think the humidity is up too. Regardless of the reason, it was great!
This was Bikram's last class for two weeks as he is off to Japan. Bikram hardly picked on anyone, and he told us we were the best improved class he has ever seen in two weeks in training ever! He also told us that we had the best Half-Moon dialogue since he started teacher training. Now, he may say this to every class, I don't know, but it's still good to hear.
At savasana, he told us we could have the night off. He put on one of his CD's, a really upbeat song, and everyone jumped up on their mats and were dancing and clapping. What a hoot!! A great way to end the week - although we still have our Saturday morning yoga class before the week is officially over.

The Vomit Class
That's what Bikram called our 5pm class. He said there were more people outside the tent than in it at the end!
The heat was high, and they finally had some humidity up to 45%. I personally didn't find it that bad. It felt a little hotter than the 11:30 class at downtown Edmonton. The difference here is that they have floor heating also, so your mat even gets hot! In the floor series savasana's Bikram kept yelling at people to put their legs down but it is hard to do when it is burning the backs of your legs! As we are only allowed one towel in the room only 1/2 our mats are covered so the legs are directly on the mats. At lecture, Bikram said he was getting the floor heat turned off until the heat/humidity is balanced.
Lecture was short. It consisted of us watching some of the shows Bikram has been on - 60 Minutes, Merv Griffin, etc. Early night - 11:30 Wha-hooooo!

Good class
Despite my aching back, I had a good class. I did all the postures, although my triangle was sloppy, and I kept falling out of it [but that's how it was in Edmonton lol!]. So today, the room felt just right when I walked in. But this time it got hotter and hotter and hotter, so towards the end, they actually opened the doors!! Near the beginning of the floor series, one girl let out a blood-curdling scream. I was talking to her afterwards, and she said she could have just screamed and screamed if they hadn't come to help her out of the room.
Are we all crazy?? I think so...but it's a good crazy! Really...

Audra, I neeeeed you!
Oh my aching back!! I need some acupuncture! Last night's class was bad. The room was soooo hot, people were dropping like flies, and leaving the room and puking, not necessarily in that order. And my back hurt so bad, I sat down at Balancing Stick and then at 2-minute Savasana, I laid down for the rest of the class. And I cried, and cried, and cried. I know it wasn't just my back causing me to cry, I know I was releasing other emotional crap from the past and likely the sore back was just the catalyst. And of course only getting a few hours sleep two nights in a row likely helped too!
Last night was another late one, got to my room at 2:50am. We finished the last 20 people for Half-Moon - yeah! - and then it was another Bollywood movie! Class this morning should be interesting. They are still having problems with getting a consistant heat. Yesterday morning class was warm, not super-hot but okay. It felt a little "chilly" at floor series, then last night was a scorcher! Because we are in a tent, it seems to have a lot to do with the outside temperature. It will be interesting to see what happens come November.
Bikram is leaving us on Friday for awhile, so the nice thing is we will get some sleep next week, so only one more night tonight.

Can you believe it?!
This is one of Bikram's favourite expressions!
We are down to the last 57 students doing Half-Moon pose, and the rumour was everyone was going to all finish tonight...WRONG! Bikram says it's unbelievable that 300 students would be finished by Monday, that's unheard of(!), our dialogues are all so good, soooooo....
You guessed it! Another Bollywood movie until 2:30 - an early night by Bikram standards. haha
Good night.

Thanksgiving
Today was a good day for reflecting on how much I have to be thankful for...all my wonderful family and friends, the great life I am living, my good health and that of my family.
I had a nice little sleep-in today and then played on the net for the morning, thinking about all the fabulous food I was missing out on at The Farm, feeling a little sad :( so Leanne, Aimee, Michelle and I went for Retail Therapy. :) Then it was laundry and groceries and back to the hotel to get ready for Week 2.
So I will just close with wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. I am thinking of you today and grateful for your love, support and friendship.

Relaxing
At our Friday afternoon class, Bikram told us he would give us the night off - wha-hoo! He said he would still be at the lecture tent around 11pm and show another Bollywood movie and anyone who wanted to join him to watch were welcome. Hmmm, let me think about that...ok, NOT! Apparently, some students actually went...wow.
Instead, Amy, her roommate, and I checked out the $20 buffet in the hotel. To get to the buffet you have to walk through the entire casino part of the hotel, and OMG the cigarette smoke!! I had to hold my breath all the way through. Normally, I do not mind the smell of a smoke if it's only one or two people - in fact, sometimes I actually enjoy it [being an ex-smoker], but gag(!) I am not used to so many smokers together like that.
So, back to the Buffet. It was good, but $20 is pretty pricey to be eating there on a regular basis. And you feel like you should be eating at least $20 worth of food, and then you are so full it hurts! Bikram is working with the hotel to get a buffet or something specifically for the TT's at a cheaper cost so that will be good.
Saturday morning's class was taught by Ulysses from Mexico. I really liked his class. His dialogue was sometimes in English and sometimes in Spanish. And I loved that at Final Savasana, I didn't have to get up right away to go shower and change for lectures. I miss being able to do that. In Edmonton, I prided myself on being the last one out of the yoga room! So I am laying there doing my primordial sound meditation when Lauren, the nurse, came and checked to see if I was okay! I looked around and there was hardly anyone left in the room - I must have fallen asleep!
The rest of Saturday morning was spent on the 3rd floor at the pool studying dialogue and enjoying the sun...so nice. In the afternoon, Aimee, Leanne, Michelle and I walked to the Fashion Mall on the Strip. This is the high-end Mall with Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Sak's 5th Ave. I wanted to buy something at Sak's since those are my initials, but nothing in my price range - you know, like say $5 haha! They did have a nice candle for $125 though...
Saturday night, Aimee, Leanne, Lisa and Michelle all congregated in my room and we had a little party, showing off all the purchases, eating chips and cookies and drinking coke and tea! {Did I mention before that there is to be NO alcohol consumed during the training?} The only thing I bought [as well as Leanne and Michelle, all three in different colours] was this very warm(!) navy funky blanket shawl for $24 at Coldwater Creek. I think I am turning into an old hippy...meditating, yoga, my hair turning curly, and now a blanket shawl. But the shawl will be so perfect for the late, late lecture/movie nights.
Okay, so that's enough for now!! Gotta get ready to head out. Our agenda today is the laundromat [have I ever been to one??], then check out the Nevada Yoga Finals that are happening in town today, then groceries. How exciting!
